"Regal I" was the classification for the early postwar model 0662/20 produced from 1945 to 1947/8. Here's a quick Regal summary...

Prewar Regal model 662/O662 (7.7 litre) was just plain Regal. "Mk I" was implied (being the first) but never used.
Prewar Regal model O862/862 was the Regal Mk II ("6.6" litre).
Postwar Regal model O662 was the Regal Mk I (was going to be Mk II but Mk II had already been used for the prewar 6.6 litre Regal).
Postwar models 0962/9621 (9.6 litre) & 0682/6821 (7.7 litre) were the Regal Mk III.

These were followed by the Regal IV (underfloor engine), Regal V (front engine) and Regal VI (underfloor engine).

Same applies to the Regent... there was no Regent I.
