One of the '80s replicars which used (I think) the centre section of a Mustang.

That center section looks older than an 80s model. It looks like the door and C pillar from about a '69 Thunderbird.
Check out the B&W photo here http://www.tbirdranch.com/6769specific.html And look at the charcter lines in the door, the door handle and windshield.

I don't think its a Zimmer. It has the overall general lines of a Zimmer but the grill is all wrong as is that air scoop in the fender.

It's a "Excalibur Phaèton".

The air scoop in the fender is where the wheel goes. It's just missing the wheel: http://www.gatewayclassiccars.com/images/carpics/STL/3855/3855.jpg

The grill is probably just an 80's custom thing. I guess someone likes hearts.

Also looks too big to be an Excalibur.

The Zimmer was established in 1978, by Paul Zimmer (no relation to Art Zimmer). Paul decided that he could do better and created Zimmer Motor Car division of Zimmer Manufacturing.

In 1987-88, the parent company, Zimmer Manufacturing, fell into serious economic problems. The 325 million dollar a year parent company went bankrupt, taking down with it all of its operating divisions including the successful and profitable ten million dollar a year car company. The IRS and bankruptcy court came in and seized everything, hauled everything in the car company factory and offices to the dump and auctioned off the buildings.

In September 1996, Art started the Zimmer Motor Car Club for Zimmer car owners and in 1997, Art started the Art Zimmer Neo-Classic Motor Car Company.
