P6 has never been an official name, just internal...then I would say it could be a 2000 or 2000TC |

It could possibly also be a Rover 3500 but can't say for sure if it has the bonnet scoops (low contrast black car & small image) |

I believe its a 3500, as the silver trim on the front of the Bonnet was only put on the 3500 (P6B). The Bonnet Sccops were only put onto the cars sold in the USA. I cant see well enough either. I think it may be a European version, as the Headlights are yellow coloured and the Mirrors are on the front guards, and not on the Doors. My car (1969 2000TC) also had these Mirrors, which was only an option in the UK. My car was a UK built, Domestic version. |

I agree with Andybob and RoveringP6, a while back I still framed the DVD and zoomed this image up close, I'm willing to bet that's a V8 badge on the bonnet making this a 3500. From memory I think it's on British number plates isn't it? -- Last edit: 2009-05-13 00:17:19 |

I don't think it's a US bonnet - the scoops would be much clearer. Yellow lights were compulsory for foreign tourists visiting France - you could either buy clip-on plastic covers like /vehicle.php?id=315628 or there was a paint-on .... um .... paint. Or you could fit yellow bulbs if you were really serious. |

Plate date is Jan 70, but launch was spring 68 (UK). |

They weren't compulsory for foreign-registered vehicles, just advised. After the first time when I had to chip the paint off the Fiat's headlights, I never bothered. I think it was a snob thing with many Brits; 'Look! I've been to France!' |

The colour was not the main issue - the purpose was to prevent dazzling oncoming drivers as UK lights were set to illuminate the left roadside which became the direction of oncoming traffic in F (so dipping the lights did not prevent dazzle), therefore the yellow tint reduced the glare. Continentals already had LHD lights set for driving on the right so did not cause dazzle on dip. Cars now have universal LHD/RHD lights and direction can be changed as needed by a switch on the headlamp fitting, which moves the bulb slightly. |

As indeed had my 1972 and 1974 Fiat 127s and a friend's Peugeot 504 breaks - the first of the Pugs was supplied with the headlights crosseyed, and I was able to show him how to correct them. |
