Too much trim, both around windows and on the sides, to be a 1200.

It´s a Rekord (P) 1958-60

You're right the 1200 didn't have chroms on the sides, this one seems to have it. The exact name is Olympia Rekord [P] of 1958-60

And since only few Opel have a "chassis" number it is better to not put the P in that field but rather as extra info

Up to me (P) is an internal code for this type of body, same as Px for Rover for ex

Sure but for Rover there is a code for most of the cars (even if lots are not filled). Here for the Opel only the Olympia can have one (like the OL38 for that one). And the codes are really not very often used, like for the Plymouth P-codes for exemple. The field was made for models with well-known code such as BMW and Mercedes.

I wonder where is the pb?...Internal codes should be all togother whatever there are accurate numbers (Wxx for Mercedes, E for Bmw, etc...) or not (Opel, rover,..)Therefore it is not logical to put P for this Opel in the namefield (extra info)and Typ1 , Typ2 ..for Volkswagen.
Up to me Chassis Numbers and/or Body type codes are exactly the same objects... :??:

Since the sort is done on that field first, all the cars without chassis code are classed first. In the case of the Opel it is annoying since in the listing this car is at the end, after the Zafira, and not with the other Olympias. And even if we fill the code for all Olympias, this one has a P and another one has a OL38: if another Opel has a code between these two, then the Olympia will not be grouped together (well, maybe it is not a problem, but that would look strange for people that do not know these codes, as they are quite less common than those used by BMW, Mercedes or VW).
For VW the Typ is useful since there is not constant name for the older models (Beetle, Coccinelle, Käfer, ... Bus, Kombi, Van, ...)

What does the P mean actually? Is it a Opel of type "P" or an Olympia of type "P" (i.e. could other Opel models also have a "P" code that has nothing to do with the "P" of the Olympia)? If it is the second one, it is not really the same meaning than for the others makes.

As soon as possible I think that I will modify the way that sorting and displaying are done, so the chassis code will be used as primary identifiant only for some makes, as said there: http://forum.antp.be/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?p=18099#18099

I made the change so now only some vehicle are sorted on their chassis code.

"P" means "Panorama", referring to the wraparound windscreen, I read once on a book.
