Ford Falcon XY 1970-71 - appears to be a GT but could be a replica (most are)

I drove this car the night this scene was shot. The car was a Bronze XYGT replica running big weld wheels on the rear and pizza cutters on the front. It was good for 12.3 quarter mile times (from memory) and it hardly had any brakes to speak of. I almost ran into the other car I was racing, as the shot was done in two seperate takes. The first was both the cars taking off, and the second was taken from the half way mark to the finish. The old XY didnt want to stop and when I turn to the right to avoid hitting the fence, the front runners lost traction and the car almost T-boned the other car (LH Torana?? I think)

The guy who owned the car waited 4 long days and nights on standby to have his car appear in the movie, I arrived after midnight on the 5th night to see all the action. He trusted me with the car while he went away with his girlfriend for the night....he was shocked to find out later he missed out on the drive in the actual movie. Sadly the car is no more....and the movie was a flop....he got paid (from memory) $600 a day to be on standby which was great money for sitting around with other revheads talking cars...

Anyway, thats my 50 cents worth - hope I didnt bore you.
