In the past, up the early 80ies, usually all cars had not such a long life, due the weak or totally missing rust-conservation. This goes for all countries. So then you could see several 5-7 year-old cars on junkyards. |

Could be possible. After filming I'll bet some fan or it's original owned acquired it and stored it in a barn or something. It is unlikely that they wanted to ruin a car after shooting of a film that is so famous, even by a small public. Only the few survivors. Of normal all-day-cars after maximum 15-20 years over 90% of all ever made ones were wrecked and crushed! O.k., we shouldn't ignore the cars, which were exported to Africa (at least in Germany nowadays a big thing). The more basic and cheap cars were wrecked much earlier than higher priced cars. Exclusive cars, Convertibles and sports cars were not so often wrecked (but several were totaled by accidents). The cars, were about 99% of were wrecked after some years, are basic estates and delivery versions - noone takes care of them. They are tools for working and not showroom-beauties. Have you been on classic car meetings? There you can see many formerly higher priced, exclusive cars and sports cars, but not so many simple all-day-vehicles. Or just look around on junkyards, what cars were wrecked today in masses. |

Generally, a Coupé will have a revised roofline. The outline shape of 2 door “sedan” will be the same, seen in silhouette, as a 4 door “sedan”, but the Coupé will differ. The roof will probably be lower, or longer or more of a fastback shape. -- Last edit: 2020-11-29 12:35:52 |

You are welcome, it’s a bit of a generalisation, and no doubt someone will find an exception, but it seems to work. The 30s/40s vogue for three window “business coupés” probably started it. |
