I wasn't sure if this "Harrods - Removals & Warehouse" truck should be listed, but maybe someone will identify it by some luck? |

Curiously, it is registered as Caterpillar, first issued on August 1960 |

Plate looks as if someone's tweaked it - if PPG, PPC and RPC were all 1960 Surrey. Where did Harrods register their fleets?? |

... so 205 PPG = May-Nov 1960. Might be surprising if Harrods registered their fleet in Surrey instead of Central London, so this could be a dressed-up film fake rather than genuine Harrods, particularly if they're mucking about with the plates. |

The whole thing looks doubtful. The pictures of Harrod’s vans that I have seen say Harrods “Knightsbridge” or “Brompton Rd”, not London. Unless..... Link to "www.british-towns.net" Guy Vixen. Harrods Wolverhampton? Oh no, that was Beattie’s until the speculators got at it. Shame, it was a good store. -- Last edit: 2019-12-23 13:52:13 |

Two different trucks, I believe. The one seen through the window is likely a genuine Harrods delivery van. The one seen unloading could be the movie's attempt to copy a Harrods van using an old furniture van, or just an older Harrods van? /vehicle_1018282-Albion-Claymore-FT25-1954.html Albion Claymore - too early for 1960 registration but probably the right size. The Surrey side of the Thames was the location of Harrods Warehouse and Furniture Depository (a famous Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race location). This was redeveloped into apartment housing from the 1990s onwards. This should explain the registration. Link to "media.gettyimages.com" The 1960 van is missing the yellow lining on the side, and the horizontal spaces between the lines, Harrods - Removals and Warehousing - London, is different to the one seen through the window and the 'LONDON' looks to me to be smaller. Without the front its unlikely an identification of either truck is possible. -- Last edit: 2019-12-23 17:13:09 |
