Am I right in thinking this is a pre-1976 registration? This might help in putting a date to what is obviously a very early 911.

That's true - pre 1976. The 911 is not so early, late 60's or rather early 70's I suppose.

The black ( instead of chrome ) surround of the indicator/sidelight identifies a 1973 model year 2.4. The bumper with integrated spoiler was also introduced for that model year. Of course these elements are changeable ( as are the Fuchs wheels ) and although I suggest a year, I would not suggest the version ( T, E or S ). Just two other details: it sports US spec headlights and Durant mirrors.

So will be '73. These headlights weren't available in Europe (in option for example?)?

For some reason I hadn't recalled the 911 had been around so long, but when I came to think of it the first one I remember seeing was in 1966 ... there ought to be a smiley holding a gun to the head.

I'm not able to answer you. Actually, and although the headlights are US spec, it seems to have white sidelights, whereas US spec indicators/sidelights were totally amber. Could it possibly be a personnal import that had the indicators/sidelights lenses changed to meet the Polish legislation?

The US sealed-beam-headlight-system was (still is) illegal in Germany. You have to change the lamps before you bring a car in traffic.

Yes that's very possible.
