Police fixtures, including what I thought was double wing mirrors, but is actually a blue light - http://www.flickr.com/photos/triggerscarstuff/7528127068/ . Lancashire police started using MGs in 1932 with J2 Midgets and continued the tradition through until the mid-60s with several MGBs (as modelled by Vanguards LC1003 - Link to "www.ehattons.com" ) so the black MGA as pictured is genuine. -- Last edit: 2012-11-11 01:22:01 |

Lancashire, in the north of England, the police having convertibles. Does that seem wise? The California police doesn't have convertibles. ^ NTC series in the photo so very close. |

Well, Britain is indeed the European country with the highest average amount of Convertibles in traffic, so why not for the police, too? In Germany a few VW Cabriolets appeared there in the 50ies, but that ws it (except as toy-models and in movies, sure). In Germany some other Cabriolets existed in police-usage, too, but all civil cars. They were cars, confiscated from criminals or distrained from people, who couldn't pay penalties or tax-debts any more. Usually sold via auctions here: http://www.zoll-auktion.de/auktion/ (vehicles: Link to "www.zoll-auktion.de" ), but via local police-auctions, too. Some of those cars the authorities keep for their own purpose. So for example the special forces, the SEK's and the GSG9, too have a good choice of sports and supersports cars, Porsche Carrera, Ferrari, Dodge Viper and so on. Most are from jailed drug-dealers, but from overindebted people, too. |
