Being in India,shouldn't be a locally-made Standard Herald???(in fact Indian-made Herald wasn't Triumph-badged) -- Last edit: 2007-06-27 23:40:35 |

Thanks guys, cool fact. |

But...Gazel wasn't a later(1971 to 1981)Standard Herald made with another trunk shape and with 4 doors???(that in photo had only 2) |

You're right DatsunZ, I've found it. It's not a Gazel, but eventually could be a Standard 850 which started beeing produced for model year 1966!... since the film was launched in december 1965, there's a tiny chance that it could be a Standard (I don't know exact date of 1st production of it), otherwise it is an import Triumph Herald... the "sharp" shape of front headlight could tend for an Herald rather than a Standard 850 which used the Vitesse design |

I agree with bebert, as it is said in the Standard website http://www.standardmotorclub.org.uk/cars/india/standardindiamk1.htm it's more likely a Standard Herald MkI produced in Madras, India. |

1961-66 for Mk1 production. Made in India (not for India)? |

It's indeed a STANDARD HERALD MK1, an early (1961-62) model, going by the 2-tone colour pattern, known as "duotone." These cars were Canley (UK)-built cars assembled in India by Standard Motor Products of India, Madras. -- Last edit: 2011-08-04 18:33:05 |
