It's actually older than a 1988. The front end was restyled in 1988 making it more rounded.

I Hate Ford, but the LTD, Crown Victoria, and the Country Squire Are an exception for me. Cool Shaggin'wagon!

The driver's name, if I remember correctly, is Sanders. Oh, and is that a different picture?

This is a 1982-1986,not a 1987,the engine is seen near the begining of the movie, and it looks to be a carburator.

Seriously! is there a part of the movie where this wagon appears that you can use as the main capture. Because This main capture stinks!

This was probably my favorite vehicle in the film...it looked cool splashing down muddy roads and keeping pace with the 4x4s the rest of the crew drove. :sun:

AMEN! if it weren't for ford, mass production of cars may have never come about.

Oh, it would have happened eventually anyway, but old Henry gave it the biggest push!
(Actually, the FIRST truly assembly line mass produced car was the Olds curved dash model.)

The real name of the storm chaser driving this car was never mentioned, but his nickname is "Preacher"

Nice car. Although I prefer the LTD Crown Victoria. Was it damaged beyond repair?

The station wagon is Preacher's ride.

1982: the carbureted engine and cassette deck (with cool sliding volume lever) give it away

no CHMSL confirmed, can't be newer than 1985 ( or lost it at the field's entrance... :D )

With an '83-'87 grille visible and no indication of a center brake lamp, range confined to 1983-1985.

Actually Ford only Automated the Assembly Line, Ransom E. Olds first Invented the Assembly Line

The Ford Electronic AM/FM Cassette shown (part number E2AF-18B865-BA) was optional on the LTD line from 1979-1982, suggesting that at least some of the cars used were pre-1983.

As no1uno pointed out, the carburated engine also gives pause. The 302 became fuel injected in 1982, and while the 255 and 351 were still carbed that year, the former was dropped for 1983 and the latter was restricted to fleet sales.

In other words, the car is shown to have a 1981+ front bumper, 1982+ rear gate emblem, and 1983+ grille, but pre-1983 radio and engine.

Possibly a 1982 with a newer grille swap?
