Curiously, the model number (13569) listed in the database indicates Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu 4-Door Sedan equip with 6-cylinder model This example is the Sport Coupe body style (the model number should be listed with last two digit number of 17). |

1 = Chevrolet 35 = Malibu 6-cylinder 69 = Four-door sedan ...and then it falls apart. That VIN makes no sense. It's 12 digits with a letter as the 2nd digit. That doesn't fit the US (13 digits) or the Canadian format (12 digits, but never with a letter as 2nd digit). http://chevellestuff.net/1966/vin.htm |

Probably a body swap, where a rust free two door body replaced the old four door. In such an event, the car retains the chassis number of the frame. (For those of you interested the legal stuff is found at Lovdata Link to "lovdata.no" §7-2 3.2.2) For the chassis number issue, I know the pre-digitized archives were filled with errors and truncated numbers. But this one doesn't seem to fit anyway. |

If you follow this link (it should be available world wide) you will get directly to the car scene - just press the 'play' button to start watching BTW, while registered for six people, it seems to have bucket front seats? |

That make sense. |

VIN looks to be of a later model indeed. Frame swap seems the most probably cause here. I just decoded a 1974 caprice classic VIN and it appears very similar. |
