Hi. My name is Malcolm Douglas, I have been directly and indirectly involved with TATRA a.s., since 1999. The Tatra used by Bowler Off Road Ltd was a project I did for Tatra & Bowler in 2007, due to the time scale (2 months) to have the truck ready for the DAKAR 08 most of the work was sub-contracted to outside companies, this includes the cabin, roll-cage, chassis preperation, painting, superstructure and electrics. The chassis is standard/stock production from the ARMAX range of trucks with CTIS and terrain gear ratios. The motor is also stock direct from production but the turbo boast pressure, injection timing and AFR where changed to get the 455hp and 2,175Nm of torque.
