1919 silent sports drama about Ben Harding, a small town baseball player who is signed to the Major Leagues after the team's train is stranded in his small town and the manager sees him pitching. His contract with the team, the Pink Sox, gives him an inflated ego and when his new lifestyle goes to his head, costing him his girl, his town's respect, and his position on the team, he swears off baseball for good! However, he soon finds himself having to return for the championship game, as his girlfriend's brother has wagered their house on the game! Can he win back his girlfriend, her house, and his contract?

The Pink Sox is clearly a reference to the Boston Red Sox. This movie was released in May 1919, five months before they would throw the World Series in the infamous Black Sox scandal that would see eight players, including rising legend Shoeless Joe Jackson, banned for over 100 years before current MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred lifted the bans in May this year. Jackson, as well as Eddie Cicotte, may see entry into the Baseball Hall of Fame as soon as early 2027.

Pink Sox are just the Red Sox sharing a laundry machine with the White Sox...
