And Youtube is where this came from, I know because I noticed this film on Youtube a few days ago. Pity about the quality :/ (the uploader obviously took it from an old VHS) I remember this from when I was a kid, I think this was the first thing I saw Jeremy Irons in. It's actually available on DVD, which would be a better way to watch it.

Difficult to tell due to quality. It could be a 1938 Ford Eight [7Y] with a later front bumper, an Anglia [E494A] of 1949-53 or as you suggest a Pop [103E].
(edit) I just looked at the other thumb ... it's a Ford Eight [7Y].
