Based on a true incident that happened in 2006, Redacted frames the action by having movies within a movie- a soldier's war diary, a French documentary, An Arabic TV crew and various internet style videos are used to advance the plot. However, this makes the movie as a whole less cohesive than Battle for Haditha, which felt more authentic.
