HD upgraded. Citroën GS poster: Simson Habicht poster: Der Clou seiner Klasse ambulance It wasn't used directly, only the sound of its sirens was used. But what is more interesting: the model. Maybe it's just because it's barely visible, but that doesn't look like one of the standard Barkas SMH-versions to me. It rather looks like something sedan-based. In East Berlin, there were some Volvo 265 ambulances built by Schwede Rescue A/B and used by the government hospital. Allegedly there was another one used as baby ambulance... The pics I found to the fast online all show the ones bought in 1985, but there should have been some before from 1975 and even earlier some 164-based ones. Whatever: it's must be something special if not even something very rare.... |

In the age of alternate facts, so-called "fake news" and urban legends, let me add: "Schwede Rescue A/B" must be a largely unknown company. It has a name that makes no sense in German, but also not in Swedish and it's hardly mentioned anywhere. To be more exact, it's only mentionend in a student's post on a German discussion board and an infamous German tabloid for special vehicles I happened to mention a while ago because of its popular accuracy issues. While I can't prove a company with that name never existed, I notice that all the ambulances attributed to that dubious "Schwede Rescue A/B" share their appearance with the Volvo-based ambulances by Ringborgs Karosserifabrik of Norrköping, Sweden. So I suggest assuming the Eastern Berlin ambulances carried Ringborg bodies, regardless of any further mediators and companies that might have been involved. #hoax The picture may very well show a Ringborg-bodied Volvo, but apparently one pair of (my) glasses is not enough to confirm that. |

The name seemed so strange, but I had no idea... So I should take to heart that I have to verify nearly everything secreted by shady sources. Another theory, besides the urban legend, that may be plausible could be that it's some letterbox company in the course of the Kommerzielle Koordinierung that imported ambulances from Sweden or whatever... |
