All these websites (including IMDb) say the movie is from 1983. But what about the VW Santana (produced 1984+ internationally/1985+ in China)?

 There was a low scale santana production since 1983 in China, despite the JV being set up later. Erik van Ingen Schenau has photographed one car with a Shanghai badge (alongside VW santana ones) in 1983.
