Filmed in Spain.

IIRC, there's a dead Pegaso bus by the roadside in one shot. Another bus is involved in a shootout between soldiers and rebels, and it has its real Spanish number plates behind the prop Cuban plates, along with the SP (Servicio Publico) plates carried by Spanish buses. :)

According to a contemporary news article I saved when the movie came out, they had a lot of trouble rounding up old American cars for the production, which is why you see the same ones over and over!

This and "Havana" are, IMO, the best two films about cuban revolution. I don't like "The Lost City" because of his anti-revolution point of view.
