"A dysfunctional cat" is incorrect. The title means "The defective cat."

These are essentially synomyms, describing something abundant with faults. Dysfunctional is a far better translation as a cat is a living being, while defective is more commonly used for objects (a defective watch vs. a dysfunctional family).

So ... what about the French title ?!?
I'll be curious about French Québec title which are (always) straight translation ... I mean an Ocean should split them :wow:

if we go by straight translation it would sound like " Le chat défectueux " or something around that..

but i don't know that movie ( or at least never heard of ) so i can't give the exact title it has here..

ps : we don't always follow a strict translation, Spaceballs for example , did not turned into " Balles de l'espace " or " Balles spatiales " .. ;)
