Not all the cars are here; there should also be the convertable in which Douglas got a lift in after the start, possibly a Chrysler Imperial or a Lincoln Continential. The hot rod that the kids street raced in, the multi-coloured truck the hippies had, Plymouths, Packards, Studebakers, thirties Fords, and lots of old cars at the demolition derby at the start of the movie. Including a lot of Town cars and Lincolns at the end. This movie may be the flick responsable for my love of cars, it was one of my first favourite films, I watched it a hundered times as a kid! Was that E-Type that Herbie smashed a real one or a kit? |

He smashed a E-Type? Don't you mean the Lamborghini? |

We saw a Lamborghini but fortunaly the car that was beat up was either an E-Type or a form of E-type replica, I'm leaning more toward an E-type though. There are plenty of scenes in The Love Bug such as the Mexican where you can see a bunch of junk cars (and a few of Disneys other movie cars) so I wouldn't doubt that the E-type was already a wreck. |

Someone should capture that. LOL I always used to cry over the fact that Herbie nearly commited 'suicide' over the bridge, and getting thrown into the ocean in the later film, rather than the exotic sports car being smashed up. LOL Happy days... Oh, and a VW Bus is visible, including various Ramblers, Pontiacs, Jaguars, 'Parts' of an Edsel and I think a 105E Anglia is visible in one race, too. Forget everything else, THIS was the movie that started it all... (my love of cars, that is ) -- Last edit: 2009-10-18 21:10:36 |
