"Navy ships"
1-4. USS Gallant (MSO-489), minesweeper (note the wooden hull panels to foil magnetic mines), commissioned 1955; in service until decommissioned in 1994 and sold to the Taiwanese Navy, renamed ROCS Yung Ku; decommissioned 2013
5. USS Maddox (DD-731), destroyer, commissioned 1944; famously involved in the Gulf of Tonkin Incident in 1964, decommission 1972 and sold to the Taiwanese Navy, renamed ROCS Po Yang; decommissioned 1984, scrapped 1985
6-7. USS Haven (AH-12), hospital ship, commissioned 1945; decommissioned 1957 but still used as a floating hospital in Long Beach, California, until 1967, sold 1968 and converted into a cargo ship; scrapped 1987
8. Likely the USS Mathews (see below)
9. Aircraft carrier; no name or number visible
10. Possibly Muskegon (YTB-763) or Redwing (YTB-783), both Natick-class large harbor tugs
10-11. USS Tappahannock (AO-43), oiler, commissioned 1942; survived a dramatic attack by Japanese dive bombers 1943; decommissioned 1970, scrapped 1987
12. USS Bayfield (APA-33), lead ship of the Bayfield-class attack transports, commissioned 1943; eventful career that saw her at Normandy on D-Day (notably, Hall of Fame baseball player Yogi Berra was a gunner's mate on the Bayfield on D-Day), Iwo Jima, and Bikini Atoll; decommissioned 1968, scrapped 1969
12. "24" is probably USS Platte (AO-24), oiler, launched 1939, scrapped 1971
13. No name or number visible
14. USS Mathews (AKA-96), cargo ship, commissioned 1945; decommissioned 1968, scrapped 1969
15. "489" is USS Gallant (see above); "122" should be USS Swift (AM-122), minesweeper, commissioned 1943; decommissioned 1955 and placed in reserve, scrapped 1972
16. "488" is USS Conquest, minesweeper from the same class as Gallant, commissioned 1955; in service until decommissioned in 1994 and sold to the Taiwanese Navy, renamed ROCS Yung Tzu; decommissioned 2020
