Internal BR technical film taken from BFi/British Transport Films Volume 7: The Age of the Train 2-DVD set. Can be seen here, but don't bother - life's too short to spend 11 minutes on a study of the amount of phosphorous used in brake blocks on rolling stock. Apparently it won a medal at the 1980 New York International Film and TV Festival, so the losers must have been unwatchable. No full pages to post, only this 1 background shot at the end - onscreen for long enough. - Simca 1501 Special in late colour, Viva HB and not sure what else. |

Another film on the DVD - Intercity 125 (1976, 23 minutes) has nothing in it for us, but is a reasonably interesting "How It works" guide to the then-new train and its technology, particularly in the first few minutes to its engines (2x 2,250 bhp V12s) which might appeal to some our engineering folk. Can be seen here. |
