"The one that Lateef missed" and it's a good thing he did.

This movie is SO bad that I couldn't make it past a full 25 minutes of it. Aside from the original voice cast it has NOTHING to do with the TV series.

I wonder why they attempted to humiliate these legendary characters in such an embarrasing way. The crazy happy-go-lucky animation style looks like a combination of Sabrina: The Animated Series and The Magic Voyage, something I would never associate with the stern and respectable character of Derrick.

Reminds me of the recent animated Olsen-banden movies - which I would say have bigger appeal, as Olsen-banden was directed at children in the firstplace (unlike Derrick).

Some of these scenes seem absolutely unbelievable for Derrick - a trying-to-be-funny AI in the BMW that talks directly to Harry (who is depicted as a clumsy, everything-happens-to-me kind of guy) over-the-top softrock contestants and...inflating a poodle with helium, causing it to blow up.

That was the moment where I turned the movie off. I was simply stumped at how they could show something so cruelly unfunny. And as a big poodle appreciator, it pained me a lot to see such a scene...

That's just the old hedgehog trick again

Maybe not every fan of big poodles can afford a genuine one. Some folk have to make do with a lookalike based on a small one. And some helium.

So they made a humor and gagged based cartoon film based off of a serious detective series. That's.....very strange

Maybe not if you see it as what it probably was: Just a blunt attemp to cash in before the series was forgotten by most folks. Of course, the producers didn't get tired of affirming that it should be rather seen as an affectionate hommage to a legendary TV series.
