I'm fairly impressed with this series after 2 of the 3 episodes - a lot of interesting opinion and analysis so more solid than the usual TG froth. But still lapses into pointless destroying-things-because-we-can mode - the red Lada in ep1, and a very tedious and pointless sequence shooting at a 2CV and R4 in ep2 (supposedly in a French quarry, but both were RHD) and then blowing them up with anti-tank missiles.

I agree. James is being his excellent factual, no-nonsense self. The programme is interesting and entertaining even if the subjects are somewhat familiar to enthusiasts or even have been covered in Top Gear (Transit & Honda Cub to some extent in Vietnam). Destruction scenes and the Cub vs. Copen race stopped the flow but all in all this is a great programme like about everything James May does.
PS. It was an RPG, not a missile.

Is anyone planning to do series 2?

Series 2 is probably even better than S1 - there's some excellent genuine humour in the script - much funnier than the forced routines in Top Gear. Ep2.2 has a great Michael Gove joke for instance.

May I do the job of series 2, or is someone already planning to do so?

I do not intend to do S2 - I'm just watching and enjoying it - but definitely think it should be added.

@jus1029 - excellent job. But I'm afraid that I couldn't resist throwing in a few of the odd things from backgrounds or archive snippets because I want to know what on earth they are.

It's okay! I couldn't bother identifying those in the older archived footage! :P

.... and the next step on his path to world domination is to become a TV cook, inevitably accompanied by a blockbuster cook book.

One assumes that, since he is a) older than 13, and b) does not use glottal stoppage, he is now of no interest to the BBC as a presenter of “popular culture”, so is being relegated to a genre where his reputation will receive an even greater thrashing from old editions of “Floyd on Scunthorpe”.

The current rash of barely literate presenters is doing BBC1 no favours.
