![]() A rare satirical comedy that actually puts effort into being funny, this movie makes fun of then-President Richard Nixon and his vice-president Spiro Agnew. It's essentially a Laurel & Hardy movie with Nixon as Hardy and Agnew as Laurel With Agnew getting Nixon into trouble or otherwise embarrassing him and film clips of the actual L&H are spliced into the film to have them interact with Nixon and Agnew, making them pseudo-characters. After it's brief theatrical run in September of 1972, it was pulled from theaters the next month and never got a home video release. Many people thought this was because the Nixon administration banned the film but it was actually because the producers, Tommy Smothers and Johnathan Haze (of Little Shop of Horrors fame) were dissatisfied with the movie and felt it should never be seen again. Fortunately, someone on YouTube thought otherwise! Full movie here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sImm2R6amU&ab_channel=Vidiotlol2000 |
