The name of this movie reminds me one other German film.

Das Kabinett des Dr. Caligari

Incredible! (Well, I mean… I'm baffled by my own ignorance.) There is a French version of it! Maybe pretty soon on IMCDb.

So, there is a contemporary French version, Le testament du Dr. Mabuse, directed by Fritz Lang and René Sti.

Thea von Harbou's script remains.

There are some changes in the cast, Otto Wernicke being replaced by Jim Gérald as Kommissar Lohmann, Oscar Beregi by Thomy Bourdelle as Professor Doktor Baum, Monique Rolland being Lilli in lieu of Wera Liessem, Maurice Maillot for Gustav Diessl as Kent. The French substitutes are not bad, besides. There is Raymond Cordy too, but Hofmeister is still played by the hallucinated Karl Meixner,

and Rudolf Klein-Rogge

is Mabuse, forever.

I won't add any pictures, the exterior scenes being the same and the job having been completely and thoroughly done by Alexander and sixcyl. But I won't neither time-tag the pics, being not sure that the interior scenes are of the same length than in the German version.

It remains a great movie.
