C'est une comédie bien dans l'air du temps (la crise économique) réalisée par Carl Boese sur un scénraio de Karl Noti et Hans Wilhelm — manque au générique Ferdinand Altenkirch, l'auteur de la pièce dont le film est tiré.

Omniprésent premier rôle, Heinz Rühmann. Autour de lui, Kurt Gerron (le banquier), Hans Moser (l'oncle d'Amérique), et la famille Brandt : Ida Wüst, Hans Junkermann et la toute jeune (17 ans) et délicieuse Hedy Lamarr (ici encore sous son vrai nom, Hedy Kiesler).

Le film sera refait en France l'année suivante, sous le titre Pas besoin d'argent par Jean-Paul Paulin, d'une manière un peu plus inventive, je trouve.

A light and lightly cynical comedy, which was slightly better remade in France one year later. Heinz Rühmann rules the den, and Hedy Lamarr (Kiesler) has not really a great opportunity to show off. Kurt Gerron is good.
