Twenty-part film series set during the Korean War (despite what some of the cars would suggest).

Portrayal of Westerners is really evil in this movie, from facial expressions to creepy makeup.

Some of the evil American imperialist bastards were played by real American defectors.

Indeed they were, Gag. Most notably American military defectors Charles Robert Jenkins and James Dresnok.
Jenkins was able to use a diplomatic opportunity to escape North Korea during a foreign visit in 2004 and now resides in the northern prefectures of Japan with his wife.
