30 minute account of the links between railways and mining/quarrying from earliest horse-drawn roots up to 20th century. Taken from British Transport Films Volume Four: Reshaping British Railways 2-DVD set. Can be seen after 58 minutes of this youtube centipede. Reasonably interesting for a subject which is not exactly thrill-a-minute. Some good sequences from the Derbyshire Dales industrial networks (Cromford, Ambergate) which I know slightly now as a World Heritage Site series of trails and railway walks. Nothing worth a page, but some quarry excavators for those who like them (locations not specified) - pair in same quarry - an impressive monster working with a smaller one |
