Antique cars here, for the sake of the story (two car-makers are involved, one is the hero). I suppose it's not gonna be easy. The movie is a big melodrama, sort of 'Monte-Cristo meets les Misérables', but on a minor tone. Rather enjoyable, for the dialogs and the cast. |

Apart from the Léon Bollée, I think that these are too "generic" of their type for accurate identification other than by a real expert of the period, and probably a French expert will be needed too. There seem to be dozens of forgotten makes from the 1890 to 1910 period, which perhaps built fewer than 50 vehicles and disappeared, especially as it was possible to buy engines from the more successful firms, and construct your car around them. |

John, I think that —apart maybe /vehicle_816613.html and /vehicle_816614.html (and for those two, mainly because of the bad quality of the capture)— all these cars will find their ID—provided that an expert comes here and have a look. I was about to name one Peugeot, and perhaps a Hurtu… and then I remembered that I don't know anything in these matters except through comparison with cars in the db. But I think these are authentic and 'distinguishable' cars. Let's not deprive the next antique specialist of the pleasure to name them. |

I hope that we can find such a person, in the meantime I shall carry on looking when time permits and live in hope of discovering a Lacoste et Battman, a Malicet et Blin or even a Secqueville-Hoyau for the database.. -- Last edit: 2015-05-26 17:23:35 |
