That rare thing - a film that's better than the book. |

I agree, what a great movie. Besides Batman Begins, this is the DEFINITIVE Christian Bale flick. Highly recommended. |

Yes, a good cult film. Would appeal to fans of Fight Club. I'd like to read the book, though. -- Last edit: 2007-11-17 01:58:50 |

WHAT?! are you sure read the book? i mean besides the book being half its size due to descriptions of everyones clothes it was a friggen great book and upsets me at times to see certain things left out from the movie ... especially the Godiva chocolate covered urinal cake. |

You can never fit everything from a novel into a movie (unless it's a very short book), otherwise the movie would have to be 2 or 3 times as long in most cases, and people aren't going to sit through that. |

Don't get me wrong, the book is great - like the rats scene - but it's a bit flabby in places and the gratuity gets a bit self-indulgent; the film is more economical, and better explains the plot. The business card scene is modern cinema classic. -- Last edit: 2008-07-30 13:24:40 (G-MANN) |

Not sure about if the movie is better than the book, but I believe this is probably a good adaptation of such a difficult book, maybe it lacks a bit the irony of the book. You can make an exercise, read American Psycho, except the gore parts and you can see how Patrick Bateman, the main character is a pathetic loser in his world. The first Ellis' book, Less than Zero was made into a real bad film. |
