Arte those scenes come from it, too? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHMSGQwLPrA , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grTJ9NcAs-c&feature=related and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pm8-5r0ty4&feature=related ? -- Last edit: 2011-12-22 02:01:33 |

Those are videos made by tourists. @kegare: Where did you get 2008 from? Going by the vehicles I'd say it was older - unless the story has a period setting. -- Last edit: 2011-12-22 02:20:40 |

I've also realised that the number plates date from before 1992: http://www.worldlicenseplates.com/world/AS_NKOR.html |

All vehicles are older, too. So maybe a movie-creation, made with old footages? |

Just registered to post. I got the date from the DVD cover, although from the trafficgirl uniform style I knew it was filmed probably sometime in the 80's. Looking at the posts about this film here on this site, the cars seem to be dated to the late 70's, so the film may even date to then. Thanks for confirming the era. good research. ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/pyongyangtrafficgirls/3956759061 -- Last edit: 2011-12-22 14:21:55 |

The uniforms haven't changed that much. In the actual travel brochure of http://www.koryogroup.com/index.php they appear, too (as a group on page 4). |

@PTGguy: very sad news. It's over. The girls lost their jobs, caused by rjluna2-installations. Where this clip was made http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pm8-5r0ty4&feature=related , it looks now so: ![]() |

My comments at Traffic signal at North Korea ![]() |

Yes, it's very sad. They are still used sometimes in the intersections, but not when traffic lights are working. At least they still have them standing around, ready to rush in if there's traffic trouble. Oh, and I found out that the original production date of this movie is 1986. -- Last edit: 2012-11-12 05:46:58 |

And sometimes to argue with the people. As here: ![]() Although inside our bus we haven heard anything, it was obviously a dispute with the truck-driver on the left side. About this scene I had a question - and got two totally different answers Question: "How it's going here in North Korea, will the robust bloke in the truck accept, what the young cute traffic girl is saying?" (note: both guides haven't known, that I've asked the other, too) (Immediate) answer from our young female guide: "Of course. She represents the law. Anybody accepts and follows the law" Answer from the older, very expecienced guide: "Well, this is Asia. There's still the ancient way of thinking, that a man is above a woman. Macho behaviour widely exists here. Of course such a young girl has problems with the acceptance by men, especially by rougher guys as truckers and builders." |

@ingo: Someone mentioned that this traffic signal light came from your own country! His comment shown at North Korean Traffic Signal Light. |

Possible, as they are looking very much like ours. Plus the fact, that over all years North Korea liked to go shopping in West Germany. Actually they the people there are unhappy, because of the lack of hard currency they have to import Chinese made VW Jetta and Ford Focus Sedan for taxi-usage (the legendary Volvo 144 and the Dacia 1300 are worn out and to less already). They really would prefer German origin cars as the quality of the Chinese made cars is very low. |
