3-part TV series (dated 2006 on the end credits , but was only shown recently 2007). Part one concentrates on 4x4's being used in urban/city areas, Part two on pensioners/old drivers and Part three on speed camera's,yellow lines, parking tickets etc.. (I haven't got part 3, either I missed it ..or it wasn't shown?)

below is survey results on if 4x4's should be used in cities & proposed penalties.

(Below) Three typical 4x4 owners were chosen to see why they drive suv's, what they think of other road users, how safe they think their cars are, what effect they're having on the enviroment and then they are put through some tests to see how capable they are in handling/driving their cars.(John Sargeant tries to pursuade them away from 4x4's with mixed results.!)

Driver 1 (lady) has kids & travels into Central London daily & needs to bring lots of stuff with her (her reason for having a Jeep Grand Cherokee), Driver 2 (man) Feels he needs a 4x4 (Toyota Landcruiser) because he feels safer and needs to negotiate the poor quality roads in London & finally Driver 3 (poser) has a Cadillac Escalade ...basically because it's 'cool' & Big and he likes to show off.!

I saw this when it was aired, it was a bit one-sided if I remember and the owner of the Escalade was infuriating. I don't remember a third part being shown though.

Naturally I liked the crash test :D

Wasn't the crash test lifted from Fifth Gear? That one involving the old Shogun and Civic?

There sure is a lot of High-End U.S. vehicles in this show. What is it about?

Basically a show that concentrates on current driving issues in the UK which, in the case of episode 1, was the presence of SUVs in road environments.

Nobody who lives in London needs an SUV. That's a very simple fact. And London SUV-drivers deserve to penalized by the government. The woman with the Jeep Grand Cherokee only needs an estate car, which would have just as much room, Grand Cherokee's aren't very big inside.

Here is a story for SUVs in urban areas:

There are always two sides to look at it.

I dont think those people have bought a SUV because they needed one... the surely have bought it cause they like it, nowadays these SUV's are bought by people who like them, not need them, there are exceptions of course but the main reason is just becasue they like them...

Alexander, the article you linked to is about speed bumps, not SUVs.

Might be off topic, but good article, Alexander.

I hate speed bumps, especially the poorly designed ones (because no two speed bumps are alike)
as they are harsh to crossover. Some are way too high for small cars.

Too high for small cars? What kind of bumps do you have in USA!? :D
The rubber band below the bumper of my car may hit some badly-designed bumps around here if I brake a little when approaching the bump, but that seems a problem of the Peugeot 206, as I did not notice that with other cars but noticed it on other 206.
But the car still pass without problem.

Ones that tear out the muffler brace. I had to have the muffler bracket welded back on the 328i I use to have.
(And before anyone asks...no the car wasn’t lowered, it still had the factory suspension)

Speed bumps are only a problem if you're driving a really low supercar. The article complains about speed bumps damaging suspension (1 in 8 cars it said), that's probably only because some people don't slow down enough for them, so they spoil their suspension, that's their fault. I find speed bumps very irritating, but I still slow down quite a bit to go over them because I don't want to damage my suspension. Some of these new housing estates in England (I live next to one) have loads of speed bumps, they're only there because there are so many fucking idiots in this country who will do 50mph or more down residential roads.

I get mad at my parents when they go 30 at a 15 mph speedbump. I always tell them "You're gonna screw up the suspension!"

We should have moved the discussion to the forum long ago, but I had no idea G-MANN was going to ask me about driver’s license and insurance questions.
