| This is an original DVD documentary, that was filmed at the Beaulieu motor museum in the UK.(presented by ex-'Top gear' ...now 'Fifth gear', racing driver Tiff Needell.)..This is his choice of 20 cars that changed..or influenced the World. It is Not currently listed on the IMDB ...but I have passed the details onto them... and hopefully they will include it ..once verified.! |

| The dvd sleeve says Tiff has over 30 years experience as a race driver.! (unlike Clarkson...who I believe...has none.! ... But has plenty of years of 'talking'.!!) Yep... The current line up of '5th gear' presenters (Tiff, Jason Plato & Vicki.b.henderson) would thrash the 'Top gear'lot on a racing circuit.!! (Clarkson,richard Hammond & 'Captain Slow' James May.!) |

| So Far..with Tiff's list of cars...I can see where he got the idea for Citroen 2cv (the French peoples car),the Trabant (the E.German peoples car)...and maybe the Napier (..his choice as first race-car...but I believe there were other race cars around the same time.!)...The MGB ....ummm ..Not such a good choice.!(I'm not saying it's a bad car.!) ...but a car that changed the world.?? (surely there were other small sporty cheaply priced cars ...which can claim the same as the MGB.? ...previous MG's for example ..TA,TC etc ...cheap sporty cars for the masses) ...and I don't get his choice of the Messerschmitt.??...Why.? ...what has it..or.. did it do.? (there are plenty of three wheeled cars before ..and after it.!..It didn't set any trends,change the style of anyone elses cars.!) ..yes..I like it's looks ...but why include it on this list.? -- Last edit: 2006-05-11 09:27:26 |

| I've just added several versions of the Austin 7 (#14) ...If anyone knows the specific model names/types... and year.? Also added a few Rolls-Royce Silver ghosts (#15) yesterday ... which need specific model/type and year details also ...if possible.? |

| No, as 'Beetle' is only a nickname used mainly in the USA. In other places different nicknames were used, here is a nice list: http://www.kaeferteam-nuernberg.de/allerlei/internationalebezeichnungen.html The German nickname is 'Käfer'. The original name is just 'Volkswagen' which means 'people's car'. Additionally a type number was used. In later years extra information like 'Standard' or 'Export', again later engine size numbers like '1200', '1300', '1500' were used. |

After that the production switch to military vehicles and dozens of variations were made, best know Typ 82 and Typ 166. The last in the line was the Typ 332 running on anthracite coal. | Thanks for all the nice Landy pictures! You made my day, Steve! Didn't they show the Laird Centaur, a Land-Rover halftrack conversion? Or any of the foreign made models (Minerva, Santana, Tempo)? The Forward Control 101, 109, 110 and Llama? There are so many special models and conversions, it would fill more than one DVD! |
