In the original cartoon, Homer and Marge cars are not recognizable. But the makers of the cartoon made a new opening sequence with real actors and... real cars :D They used a Lada for Homer's car and a Volvo for Marge (they could have chosen a Wagon, like in the cartoon).
Since it is made by the same people than the cartoon, and approved by Matt Groening, I guess we can list these two cars here.

I always mix up RHD and LHD. I never remember if it means that the car drives on the left or if the steering wheel is on the left :D
In this short movie, the steering wheel is on the right, normal for a UK car in a movie made in UK. What is strange is that Homer's car has the sterring wheel on the left. But since it has a UK plate, the video may have been mirrored.

To be honest, most of the regular cars on the Simpsons are not really supposed to be anything in particular, just generic American cars, if Homer or Marge drove a specific model car, it would just require too much detail for easy animation (notice how in cartoons, when a military officer appears they never wear particulary acurate or detailed uniforms) and cartoons always try to avoid complicated sequences (many use rolling backgrounds etc.). So apart from when cars appear that are specifically supposed to be something (like the AMC Gremlin Hans Moleman drives in that Halloween episode for example, because it is part of a joke as is the Geo Ned Flanders drives when he is trying escape Homer, joke - "Faster Daddy!", "I can't it's a Geo!") it is a bit pointless to try and indentify a lot of the cars because it's just some usually animator scribbling a generic, non-specific vehicle. If he has to draw a limo what he draws might resemble a lincoln or cadillac because they are familiar it's what Americans picture when they think of a stretch limo. If he draws a police car, it'll look like a something like a boxy 80s Ford Crown Victoria or Chevy Caprice for the same reasons. Another example Mr Burn's car looks vaguely like a classic Rolls Royce but on close inspection does not match any particular model exactly and doesn't have a Spirit of Ecstasy bonnet statue, because it is not too important for a cartoon car to have every feature of a 1950s Rolls Royce Silver Cloud, a viewer just needs to glance at it and think "Rich man's car". But if a regular character drove a something that deliberately resembled a certain make of car, then they'd have to pay the car company for using their product and in a cartoon this can be avoided and Networks don't like shows spending extra money unless absolutely necessary (the whole issue of using songs is a good example). That's probably the reason why in "The Italian Bob" the car featured is called a Lamborghotti Fasterossa, although it does look like a Lamborghini Gallardo, it they actually used the name, they'd have to pay a royalties (or whatever) to Lamborghini (or they would get sued) and the suits at the Fox Network would not like that. I've always found this really lame, it reminds of when I'd read comics like The Beano, and they'd never dare to use a real brand name so they'd use a stupid-sounding knockoff name.

Sorry for such a long-winded post, and try not to let this spoil your fun! :p

Of course you're the guy who hates The Simpsons, aren't you? :D Don't get me wrong, I love the show (in its prime years at least, it's really gone downhill in the last few years), but I don't think a lot of the cars are meant to be that accurate, since it's a cartoon and doesn't have to show real life cars (except in that new Sky TV opening sequence).

No, I don't hate the simpsons. I don't even have a problem with listing cartoons providing they could be clearly marked as 'resembling' something and not actually being something. I just have a aversion to listing cartoons as real positively identified cars; particularly, when the cartoon itself identifies them as something else - for example: Lamborgotti Fasterossa as a Lamborghini Gallardo. :D

But also you can't actually identify real cars in The Simpsons, because there are no real cars, just drawings of cars. I don't mind too much, it's just that cartoon's like The Simpsons don't even try to draw real cars most of the time, although I think King of the Hill puts a bit effort in the cars it shows.

Pretty good, DJ Sergio. But what wikipedia doesn't tell you is that Barney's "Plow King" truck is either a GMC TopKick or Chevrolet Kodiak, or that an earlier, much more attractive version of the Homer was in the works at Powell Motors(until Homer furiously tore up the blueprints), or that a Volvo and a mid-to-late-1970's Ford pickup were among the vehicles that ran over Homer's head while he was trapped in a draw bridge in the episode "Lost Our Lisa."

Matt Groening said than the names of the simpson family were the names of his father, mother and sisters; and if they were the family names, Homer and Marge's cars can be the Groening's cars!
In one episode, Homer says than his car was made in Croatia, and it's very similar to the Fiat 124, and it was saled in other Europe places with other names (Like SEAT, Lada and Zastava), mostly in East Europe, so it can be a Lada Nova, with the typical american wings:
http://www.ladasite.com/fiat_124_101.jpg
Plus, in the Simpsons' Road Rage and Hit & Run, the family sedan is representated like a small (Convertible, I don't know why) and four door pink car, like a Lada or Fiat.
About Marge's car, Homer says than it's made in Guatemala, but it's confused with an european car, so:
1º Lots of american dealers builded their cars on South America, and it's very similar to the '73 Chevelle Malibu
2º Or, like I said, it was confused with an europan car so it can be a Volvo wagon, a 240 GLT or a Peugeot 504/505 break

Because she didn't buy it. She inherted the car of his father, and they could paint it of orange like the Homer's car, because, just a few cars had pink on the stock color

On another note, I just watched all the season 1 episodes just to see if there were any vehicles worth listing. The animation is so crude that I wasn't really surprised in not finding anything resembling a real vehicle. Although there is this RV briefly featured in ep. 1.07-

The Homer is made for the show. It has a Rolls Royce front and the tail fins of a 50's car, And a soundproof bubbledome for the kids, (with optional restraints and muzzles)

In one of the episodes where it showed the future homer drove a flying car, I'd like to know what company manufactured it so I could buy some stock in it ;) . Sure it still had kinks it in but im sure that company's stock would have still skyrocketted after being the first to creat the hovercar and over time they would be the first to perfect it most likely.

In One Episode, Homer's Enemy Frank Grimes JR. (Disguised as a Mechanic) Says that Homer's Car Was Built in Yugoslavia (I think) and it is made from old tank parts.

Because in that episode it was a slight elaborate plan to kill Homer, Grimes JR could of said it was a Yugo-built car because it was the first name to come into his head.

You have a point there. And it did say that on the IGCDB. But Homer's car is a four door sedan.

True, yet the white car in the picture provided was a two door.

In Episode 4.09 "Mr. Plow," Homer is looking for another car and one car he looks at first is some sort of Eastern Bloc car, its very small and only has 3 wheels, the shift gauge has Cyrillic characters on it, he asks what country the car is from, the salesman says "It doesn't exist anymore." When he tries out the car the salesman needs to push it to start and he says "Put it in "H"!"

Homer`s and Marge`s cars slightly changes in the new intro from Series 20.

Most important things are that homers car is now a 4-door and marges car is now a station wagon and hasnt any chrysler badge on the hood like before (but maybe covered by homers body).
