Roy Scheider's car in the film is a silver 1973 Pontiac Ventura Sprint coupe : http://mclellansautomotive.com/photos/B6323.jpg It's the car that hits the back of the parked truck. The 'baddies' he's chasing are driving a 1973 Pontiac Grand Ville : http://www.cars-on-line.com/18992.html

Rogue NYPD unit whose collars are given a minimum 7 year jail sentence (hence the name) Turns out that Roy Schieder's informant is behind a loan shark shakedown which involves baddies impersonating cops, and kidnapping bosses of known NY area crime families.

Just a note: it would be better if pictures had the right aspect ratio :/ Quality is maybe better than old ones, but they are clearly too flat!
Even for quality I have a doubt: the pic of red Kadett is much bigger than your pics. Was it an exception? Or were the other in quite low quality despite their size?

First the asspect ratio is ok and second the red Kadett pictute was the one added before by SWF i think, with bad quality as it was extracted after ripping it with movie maker which decreases the quality a lot form the first file, then Ralph added VHS captures which were obviously worse and i left the other ones posted by IRT_BMT_IND except some where i changed the angle because it was not visible, i think ive also left some of SFW's.

Not for me, and really im not saying this to be against you i promise i see them perfectly in my screen :??: as normal as another movie, really so i dont know... this morning i saw them in my uncle's wide screen monitor and they did seem flat but it was the same for other movies as well, so for me they are ok...

They are too flat. Not much, but a little, and it is clearly visible for me.
If on your screen they appear normal AND that all other movies too, it may be that you do not see "minor" aspect ratio errors :D
/vehicle_136116-Dodge-B-Series-Tradesman-1971.html -> van is too wide
/vehicle_136135-Cadillac-Unknown.html -> wheels not round
To be sure to see picture as they should be seen, the width divided by the height of your monitor (in centimeters) must equal the width divided by the height of your resolution (in pixels) that is selected in display settings (except if you have a monitor from outer space that do not have square pixels, as this logic is respected even widescreen laptops I think)

I am not sure of the right ratio actually, it seems to have an usual one (like some other movies, I had that case with Maximum Overdrive for example).
1,66 seems to fit, what do you think Garco? (or anyone), but it may be 1,77 or even another value (completely non-standard then).
e.g. for /vehicle_136118-Fiat-124-Station-Wagon-1970.html with 1,66 :

Part of it was filmed on the Taconic Parkway not too far from my house. The weird thing is that they should have been in New Jersey since theywent on the George Washington Bridge, but unrealisticly they filmed that part slightly up north in New York.

I think the Grand Ville and Ventura should be given four out of five stars instead of the three out of five they are listed at right now. The main cars from the Bullitt chase each have five stars. I realize Bullitt is more well-known and therefore the cars are more famous, but this movie is on par with Bullitt, the chase was orchestrated by the same production team, and is a more realistic, longer improvement over Bullitt with "more likely to be used in a chase" motor vehicles, and a fantastic ending. I think most people who've seen this flick would agree.

Watched the Seven-Ups for the first time in many years last night. It\'s amazing how much of the chase scene (camera angles, reaction shots, etc) is lifted directly from Bullitt. It\'s too bad they couldn\'t have chosen better cars. The Ventura was OK because the suspension was clearly beefed up (police spec?). I give it a soft \"4\". But the Grand Ville? Puh-lease!! Every time there was a shot of Scheider in the Ventura struggling to keep up with this lead sled I almost laughed. I dunno. Maybe its just because both cars reflected the blah styling of most early-70\'s U.S. cars. Regardless, a 3 is more than generous.

The movie as a whole? Ehh....just OK. The plot didn\'t really grab me. Plus, Scheider was no McQueen, and they needed a Robert Vaughn or Norman Fell, too.

A question for those with sharp ears. Did Yates re-use the Bullitt soundtrack in the chase scene? The engine sounds just like Bullitt\'s Ford 289, not the smallblock Chevy that you might find in a Ventura.

I've only seen the clip of the car chase online, and I have to agree that it sounds like the same engine sound effects as those used for the Mustang in Bullitt. In some cases, the sound isn't cut early enough and you hear the car shift with the distinctive sound used for Steve McQueen's vehicle in the other film.
