Ce film est une comédie complètement anodine de Philippe de Broca et Daniel Boulanger. On est à mille lieues de L'homme de Rio (1964) ou des Tribuations d'un Chinois en Chine (1965), ou même du pensum psychédélisant Le roi de cœur (1966).

Broca filme sa jeune épouse Marthe Keller qui, manque de pot, ne suscite pas beaucoup d'émotions pour le spectateur neutre. (À la limite, dans une publicité pour les produits laitiers ou des petits déjeuners familiaux, j'dis pas.)

D'ailleurs, co-production italienne oblige, les femmes, Valentina Cortese et Didi Perego sont faibles.

Quant aux acteurs mâles — une kyrielle, et des connus hormis Bert Convy, puisqu'on trouve Noiret, Marielle, Fernand Gravey, François Périer, Henri Crémieux — ils font exactement ce qu'on leur a vu faire mille fois.

Une comédie ennuyeuse, c'est ennuyeux.

Very flat comedy, very. Only for Marthe Keller's smile fans, they'll find a feast here. For the others, they'll press on the fast forward button.

The scenes with the liners approaching are here to say how unpleasant it is to live in New-York… but they are obviousy filmed in Orly, Paris suburbs.
