![]() ![]() 28 minute account of sorting and delivering letters - another focus on the overnight trains as the original Night Mail film and throws in yet another trip to Barra which seems a perennial favourite for GPO film crews, but this is great fun with a wry humour and very high quality reproduction. Can't find a full copy online, but it's on the 2007 BFI re-issue of Night Mail on DVD ![]() ... but not on other reissues such as those by GPO/BBC; may also be on British Transport Films collection DVDs. There's a 3-minute version on youtube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPrCFJHEd8Q . Lots of quirky stuff: - delivering the post on Barra ![]() (I think we've done the obvious Citroen 1CV/Mustang/Pinto jokes on previous similar occasions) - best hair of the month ![]() - man with pet piglet ![]() ![]() ... possibly Ipswich - is this common down there?? - the overnight train is D301, it goes very fast, and has its own post-box ![]() ![]() ![]() .... and facilities for the workers to keep their sausage rolls warm ![]() Instructions for signalmen ![]() |
