Ils se sont mis à cinq pour écrire ça, dont Alex Joffé (le réalisateur) et Auguste Le Breton (auteur du roman et dialoguiste), et José Giovanni aussi. Ça part d'ailleurs un peu dans tous les sens, ce film de gangsters où les femmes (Nadja Tiller, Silvia Montfort) jouent un rôle éminent

… aux côtés de Robert Hossein et Roger Hanin (qui fait un dur réussi), et aussi, trop brièvement, Françoise Rosay et Pierre Blanchar.

On patauge plus d'une fois dans le ridicule et le cliché, la chanson du film écrite par Aznavour et chantée par Tiller est nulle, le casse est extrêmement embrouillé, et on flirte plus d'une fois avec le sadisme (que l'histoire réclame peut-être). M'enfin bon, la musique de Louiguy n'est pas mal, les décors et la photo sont très bons…

Allez, ça peut se laisser voir, au moins à titre documentaire sur le film noir français des années 50.

The usual load of American cars for this French noir, where the heist is only one among the complicated events. One Cadillac, at least one Chevy… The movie itself is watchable for the set and the cinematography—in my opinion, natürlich.
