The premise of this show is quite similar to "Pimp My Ride", but the cars come out being totally unlike those that come out of "PMR"... the cars on Overhaulin' come out useful, stunning, driveable, and actually tasteful. |

Ehhh...I'm sorry, did you just use the words "tasteful" and "stunning" to describe vehicles designed by Chip Foose? Chip Foose is just like all the other megabucks hot rod builders out there. Foose, Coddington, Trepanier, Posie's, they're all the same. All of them take perfectly acceptable classic cars, then paint them in clashing pearl and gloss paint jobs, perform pointless body modifications "just because," and add loads of tacky, hideous billet alluminum and act as if they've somehow "improved" the car. With the exception of the '88 Chevy pickup and possibly the '50 Ford Custom, every single vehicle on this show looked better beforehand, even if it was rusted and falling apart. The most offensive was probably the '56 Chevrolet. Because there are obviously enough all-original, unrestored, minty '56 Chevies still circulating to justify completely desecrating this one, right? WRONG. |

Me and my Dad call this adult Pimp My Ride, because some of the cars do end up looking bad, but atleast they don't install about 8 amps, 12 subs and 4 PSP's for the hell of it on Overhaulin! |
