A question for IMFuelPriceDb: what's the Diesel-price? Am I right, that the 13:63 is the price for the 95-octane fuel? If yes, the liter costs 1,53 €, so 2,06 US-$ @US-IMCDb-ists: so you have absolutely no reason to whine around for that reason! |

That would be cheap here. |

UK is about the same as Sweden, USA is very cheap compared with that. http://www.brandstofprijzen.info/brandstofprijzen-europa.php Sweden € 1,650 UK € 1,672 USA € 0,684 Or in dollars the price in Belgium is $8.86 /gallon. In Holland $9.08 even. (US price $3.41) -- Last edit: 2012-02-01 22:38:50 |

O.k., Scotland belongs to the European areas with the highest fuel prices at all, only topped by Norway, I think. The top price of Scotland I've seen in Lochinver, but the rate of the BP-station in the Glen Coe cme close. So at our Scotland-trips I always fill up in the next street there: /vehicle.php?id=472350 up to the last drop. And when I have to fill up in SCO, I calculate the amount of the distance back to that place. Once I'd been nearly too thrifty. Huh, what have I sweat, when I've recognized, that there is no gas station on the A7 between Dalkeith and Galashiels! Sh.t how scarce, that was Maybe a compassionate royalist should give Lizze and Cie. the useful hint for there summer vacations to do it like that smart fellow: http://vwbus.dyndns.org/bulli//michaelk/vw_bus_d/gorgs01.jpg , because her: /vehicle.php?id=374781 seems not to be really austere. There is only one gas station in Braemar - ad it was empty, when I came there in 2001 On the following sweaty kilometers to Spittal of Glenshee I had even to switch the engine of the K 70 off and let it roll downwards the hills to save every drop... Not smart to ignore, what's written in the Scotland-guides: "Gas stations are a rare sight there. So better fill up at every opportunity, you see" - the same text you find in guidebooks for Namibia... -- Last edit: 2012-02-01 22:29:26 |

Not all parts of Scotland are as advanced as Glasgow. In some parts of the Lothians I have heard they still point at these horseless carriages as the devil's works because they move without legs. Perhaps in 50 years time they'll get brave enough to build a petrol station so these abominations can have a roadside drink ......... |

@chicomarx: it is true, what it's said, that in Belgium the fuel companies are encouraged by the authorities, to hold their prices close to the German rates, because a "fuel tourism", should be avoided, as it's common to Austria, the Czech Republic, to the Netherlands (only Diesel), France and -extremely- to Luxemburg? |

I've no idea about price fixing, but I'm just under the Dutch border and in the past people always travelled up to Holland for fuel. But the different currencies contributed to that. Now that's all over. It's still worth to go there because their supermarkets are cheaper. (but unfortunately filled with Dutch products) |

Well, even in Belgium it's not really easy to get domestic products. It was disappointing to see in the supermarkets (I like to look around there, when I'm abroad) only the things, you can find here or in NL, too. And then for higher prices. |

There's too many players here. In Holland something like Albert Heijn can negotiate better prices. In fact they're moving into Belgium now. Cheapest is Colruyt, that's no-frills warehouses with everything on pallets, then more expensive ones like Carrefour and Delhaize, or ultra cheap your own Aldi/ Lidls... Domestic products as local beers and such? Delhaize will have most of those. They're active in the American Midwest as Food Lion. Thus far my tourist guide. |

A lttle drama, caused by Belgian domestic products I had on the already mentioned Antwerpen-daytrip ( /vehicle.php?id=284094 ) last March. Have you ever strolled along all the Chocolatier-shops with a wife, who is on a strong diet.... -- Last edit: 2012-02-03 23:34:00 |
