It seems that the images are from later episodes (even though the episode numbers start with '1', which should mean 1978, but seems to be 2002). This is the reason for no Lancias. They pulled out of selling cars in Britain in 1994. |

Yes they are all from the new series, which was basically a restart of Top Gear so it started again as series 1. I think there are a few from old Top Gear though that someone else submitted, under the submissions that have an unknown episode number. |

I thought I should post this as I know there are some Top Gear fans on here. Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond has been involved in an accident, whilst filming for Top Gear in a jet powered car, trying to break a land speed record. ..the new series is said to have started in 2002 (..as the BBC had dropped the show ..and All presenters ..(except clarkson ..who'd been offered other show's ..which failed miserably.!) ..moved to channel 5 ..and started the new show ...'Fifth gear'. BBC ..then had a change of heart ..and restarted the Top gear programme ..with a new format ...and adding Hammond & May as co-presenters. I have a couple of older shows (pre-2002 & Hammond/May) ..which I could add here ...but what would be their episode numbers.? ..and should they really be on this page.? ..I think the IMDB should have separated the two versions of the show (..as they have with the 'Dangerman' Tv series ..listing the b&w episodes ..apart from the colour.!) ..also as there was quite a break between the old top gear and restart/updated/new format 2002 show.! ..Even the Top gear website ..lists it as series 1/episodes 1 (...dated 20/10/2002) ..ignoring the older shows.! (..Maybe we could list the older shows by their year? ...as I cannot find much details of any 1990's episodes.! ..the ford puma + some Lotus already listed here ..I think are from older shows.) I have seen a few 80s and 90s episodes of Top Gear, and they do appear to be much more conerned with safety more than the present show Since the show got officially cancelled in 2001, then the older Top Gear should definitely be sent to a different page. Yes, Fifth Gear are attempting to copy Top Gear but have completely cocked it up. I finally got to see this show. It's playing on the BBC channel. 2 epsiodes I got to see were with the VW Camper Van, Toyota Pickup and a convertible turned into boats as well as the Renault van turned into a convertible. Great show...now have it Tivo'd so I wont miss an episode. |

Oh yes I forgot about those, but I believe there were multiple models in each shot unfortunately. They were actually fairly relevant as they provided an obscene amount of emergency services to highlight the dangerous nature of the car Jeremy was testing. |

Actually it isn't a rubbish car When it came it offered a lot of car for the money. Lots of power and durability. Competitors Moskvitsh 2140, Polski-Fiat 125p, Wartburg 353W and Skoda 105 were cheaper and also inferior in quality. Lada was more quality car. |

True, it was popular car because it was cheap. Lada was the best selling car in Finland almost two decades all the way to 1993. But Lada was introduced in 1971 and at that time it was practically a Fiat 124 with only few minor modifications. Some would say it was better than a Fiat because it was adjusted to harsh winter conditions. At that time it was a good car and almost immediately jumped to number one position in sales charts. It wasn't out-dated and car testers didn't say a bad word about it. Btw. Finland was never part of the Eastern bloc. We had the same cars offered as in any other central-European country, although more expensive. |

Lada & Skoda were the butt of many jokes in England in the 70`s & 80`s, mainly because they were cheap & we are a snobby nation! The fact is they were perfectly reasonable cars, & if looked after were actually more reliable than many contempary British cars due to theyre simplicity & ease of maintainance & big tollerences that you couldnt really cock up! Skodas excelled in rallying longer than any other manufacturer. Lada`s were especially solid & dependable road cars, remember, Russia is a very harsh environment for cars & they were based on the Fiat 124/125, which were actually well respected in the 60`s as real drivers cars, having said that they did have the wonderful Fiat twin cam engine in the TC models which was such a good engine it was still used by Fiat & Lancia virtually unchanged up untill the mid 90`s. I even had a Riva I got for £40 for a while! I wont say I loved it, but it was a laugh! |

When sorted in list of episode, i have commented on all the cars that have no episode number so that whoever does this page can change them so that they all have an episode number. Also some of those ones never even appeared in Top Gear not even in mini scenes and i have watced every episode and have an accurate list of almost every single car featured even if a for a brief second. The cars that arent featured in this format of top gear (the ones without episode numbers) are the: The two lotus elans, the elise 111s (there was one, but it was green and modern (1.07) and there isnt a pic of that) the one pictured is older and red, the ford puma and the CLK-GTR. Apparently because they're only background vehicles they couldnt be added, but they are backround vehicles that appeared in the studio and were talked about like a lot of some of the cars on here. And i already submitted them to the forum. So could somebody please upload this volvo v70 and Porsche 928 that appeared in Ep 1.03 (the episode which was all about car design. I'm guessing whoever uploaded the three images that dont have an episode number forgot to put them in. The Lancia 037 Rally and Toyota Celica are of course from 12.03 while the Mercedes O 305 G is from the most recent 12.05. Just so that nothing is out of place |

I agree, too minimalist and bland, yet I've always admired BMW sports sedans from the eighties and nineties. Even though Jezza badmouths the Yanks and their industries often he clearly does have a soft spot for Detroit Muscle, he even bought a Ford GT (and then sold it), and enjoys the classic Mustangs and Challengers for their performance, being the power-obsessed man that he is. Ultimately, Clarkson admires the sheer Torque and top speed American cars can produce, he won't deny that, but it's the handling and inability to control the cars with ease that let them down. IT has been confirmed that there will be a 14th season from the official top gear website. A lot of people though looked to far/deep/seriously at that Aston review and all pounced thinking Jeremy had announced the end of Top Gear. No, Like clockwork, Top gear will return later on in the year, so don't worry. |

LOL You're not the only one - there's loads of people who dislike him in Britain, though he only acts smug for entertainment purposes and purley because it is his own style, such as making environmentalists look stupid etc. Although I agree with many of the things Clarksson writes about in the papers and in his books, he does border into unrealistic visions of how Britain and the world should be run. Fundamentally, he knows what's going on and can tell an idiot from a mile away, even though he acts like one from time to time. |

Is it really that soon already? As much as I love TG I wish they'd approach classic cars in the same way they do on Fifth Gear, and feature them as often as they do on FG. Even though the Top Gear team enjoy classics, they seem to constantly compare them to modern, materialistic, gadjet-filled cars. Plus, whilst driving them they seem to stage hundreds of faults and breakdowns. I'd say my most favourite parts of the show are both the news, where Jezza constantly rips all the MP's and the 'Star in a Resonably priced car'.
