I recall that there was also a 1959 Cadillac in this movie, which has always bothered me because it's set in 1957.

I also remember a 1948-53 Chevrolet 5400 truck. Oh, BTW, the Chevy pickup belonged to Hogarth's mom.

there should be a few more vehicles there was a Willys MB Jeep, some military vehicles, and what looked like a chrysler, desoto, dodge, or plymouth.

As I recall, the Chevrolet truck (possibly a 3100?) was used a fair bit, so I'd give it 4 Stars.

The Hudson's primary scene was a key point, when the government agent realized that there actually was something awry; 3 Stars for the Hudson.

As said, there were also some military trucks, Jeeps, tanks, an old tractor (Farmall M?), a tow truck, a black and white car (Chrysler Imperial?), a bus, a few more background cars at the scrapyard, and an older motorcycle, possibly an Indian or a Harley. I haven't seen the movie in a few years though.

I also just remembered a 1951 (approx) Ford COE stake bed.

I'm going to have to rent or buy it again, myself. But from what I recall, the cabover you're thinking of, Diesel Jim, might've actually been the 1948-53 Chevy 5400 I mentioned.

Thank you for calling me on that one. I vaguely recall the truck, but based on pics of a real Chev 5400, I believe you are absolutely right.

Here's a car that looks remarkably like a 1959 Cadillac despite the fact that the film took place in 1957. In a junk yard no less.

"GMC CCKW and a Unknown Sedan" For the Green military truck...
The cab roof line & door and the front bumper more closely resemble a GMC M211.

From IMDB:

Kent drives a 1949 Chevrolet Fleetmaster, and the car that he borrows is a 1954 Oldsmobile 98.

Yeah, the film is set around and after the night of the 4th October 1957, the night that the Soviet satellite Sputnik 1 was launched into space and started transmitting.
