What are we doing with this 'episode-problem'? I have added some cars today of the first episode of X-files, called 'Pilot'. Yvon52 had find out that IMDB called it episode 1.0. |

1.0 is good I guess... Or you can put "pilot" if there is space for that (I do not remember the length of that field) |

Just a little question for US résidents : I have all seasons of X-Files on DVD, but I see lot of cars without front number plate. especially "service cars", rent cars, used by the two FBI agent. or domestics cars used by other people. /vehicle_16346-Chevrolet-Malibu-1979.html /vehicle_42260-Buick-Century-1993.html /vehicle_43949-Chrysler-LHS-1999.html For example... front plate isn't an obligation in some states ? -- Last edit: 2006-09-10 11:12:51 |

No not all US States require front licence plates. The State I live in (North Carolina) does not require front plates even though this grand prix : /vehicle_52105-Pontiac-Grand-Prix-1997.html has a front NC plate on it. I assume the reason for this is to make sure you know that this is supposed to take place in NC -- Last edit: 2009-11-16 05:19:15 |

Or the props department just didn't realise that North Carolina doesn't use front plates. |

Perhaps they use radar traps only from behind the cars... ![]() Here in Europe, all states require front & back numberplates. But while almost everywhere else the pics in the speeding traps are taken from behind, here in Germany they want the front picture of the car. This is to ease identifying the driver. Since some years they have to blacken out the passengers' faces, as frontal radar speeding trap pictures had led to more than one divorce... ![]() |

fyi... the movie companies rent or lease the vehicles.. most are not even registered in the respective states. they are trailered to location and used on set as is or as specified. some modified or custom built. some are private owned and leased through brokers. remember .. it is hollywood...nothing is actually real. anyone have any footage of this vehicle or know which episode it was in ? http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=image&file=043.JPG http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=image&file=wagon.JPG -- Last edit: 2008-03-23 02:11:30 |

As to number plates - they rent those too. Local prop houses have many US states of all eras and they'll either come with current tags or the production company will have the art department design some and get them printed. Some are generic and re-usable ('US GOVERNMENT' plates, for one), and some productions make their own in-house if they're going to be on a hero car for the run of the series or something (or they're so paranoid they have Legal clear a specific combination of numbers and letters in case they inadvertantly show a car getting nailed by a train and it happens to have the same number plate as some family's car involved in a train wreck in Lower Armpit, NJ in 1986 or whatever.) |
